Levity Farms has relocated to Blairsville, GA!

Fresh Boxes coming soon!

Who we are

Levity Farms is a first-generation family farm in beautiful Union County, Georgia. Since 2017, we have worked with local chefs to provide fresh, nutrient-dense produce to local folks in and around Atlanta and our new home in Blairsville.

Our main focus is on the health of the soil. Soil health is the greatest indicator of the overall health of a farm. Our efforts to build and maintain healthy soil are inspired and informed by our background in Permaculture, as well as our years of farming experience. We are striving toward a regenerative, closed-circuit operation, which will include ecologically-beneficial installations and growing practices to continually improve the conditions of the land on which we are growing, and which will also serve as a space for the community to gather and learn about, contribute to, and celebrate the nurturing of a healthy ecosystem.

If you are interested to learn more about our growing practices, soil health, the principles of Permaculture, or anything else regarding Levity Farms and our intended role in the community, please feel free and invited to reach out! We love to hear from our fellow enthusiasts.

Our Mission:
We seek to operate a sustainable, small-scale, family business while providing a model for an environmentally responsible, climate-resilient farming operation that fuels, nourishes, and celebrates community.

What We Do

As stewards of the earth, our job is to nurture the soil and strengthen the ecosystem of our farm, allowing us to plant our seeds in fertile land. Rather than “growers”, we often refer to ourselves as “soil farmers”. We understand that vibrant produce and healthy plants can only thrive when the conditions of the soil around them foster a strong, balanced food web.

We maintain a diverse repertoire of veggies, herbs, flowers, shrubs, and trees. Georgia is located such that we are blessed with really ideal growing conditions for many delicious crops. Though much of our produce is often deemed season-specific, we utilize season-extension equipment and implement various irrigation techniques, which allow us to grow crops like lettuce, root vegetables, and brassicas almost all year long.

Salad Greens

Lettuce and other field greens have been grown throughout Spring, Fall, and even Winter, but they tend to be difficult to grow during the hottest part of the year. Due to some of our season-extension assistants — shade cloth and specific watering methods, for example — and the quality of seeds we use, we are able to provide our community with fresh, flavorful greens just about all year long. Some examples of the salad and field greens we grow are lettuces, baby arugula, mizuna, baby kale, and baby mustard greens.

Brassicas

Brassicas are a family of plants that are known for their high nutrient-dense content, including loads of vitamins, minerals, and even protein. They are some of the hardiest vegetables grown at Levity Farms, and they often do well in colder months, but as a result of our season extension practices, many are also available year-round from us. Some of our favorite brassicas to grow are kale, hakurei turnips, kohlrabi, broccoli, and cabbage.

Small Roots

No salad is complete without something satisfyingly crunchy to round out the chorus of textures in the bowl. We maintain a diverse inventory of root vegetables to make any salad complete, and we’re often experimenting with new varieties in addition to our tried and true favorites. We cultivate loads of colorful roots, like rainbow carrots and radishes of many shapes, sizes, and colors.

Flowers

Though we love to eat (and eat..), not everything grown at Levity is fated to be eaten. We also raise hundreds of feet of farm flowers, some that we've planted, and some that have planted themselves, around the field to provide our pollinator pals with an all-you-can-eat buffet. Many of these beautiful blossoms are harvested and arranged into bouquets for our community to enjoy as well. Our favorite flowers to grow are zinnias, celosia, cosmos, strawflowers, and snapdragons.

Nightshades + Cucurbits

Much of our repertoire consists of veggies that can be grown throughout all or most of the year. Yet, our operation would be incomplete without the presence of our Summertime favorites, like heirloom tomatoes, eggplant, sweet and spicy peppers, and delightful cucumbers and specialty gherkins.
